What Does Working With Me Look Like?

In therapy the right fit between client and therapist is very important. As a client I want to be able to connect and feel that I am being heard and understood and that we are on the same ‘wave length’. I want my therapist to be fully present and listen to me when I need to process my thoughts and emotions and to empathically challenge me where I need to be challenged. I also want my therapist to have the expertise, education, and the experience to help me through my issues and to have close familiarity with the unique challenges that I am experiencing. I also appreciate objectivity, humour, feedback without judgment, and honesty. So as a therapist I offer what I would want as a client. If you are someone who also appreciates and wants the above, then we would be a great fit together.

As part of my therapeutic style I strongly believe that your goals should guide the process. I work collaboratively with you to reach tangible results through tailored plans in a supported, flexible, and responsive environment. I also routinely check-in with you to assess progress and to make sure we're on the track. Once you have reached your therapeutic goals I also place a strong emphasis on ensuring that you are well supported and have a plan to maintain gained improvements in the future. My ultimate goal is to "teach you how to fish".

If you want to know more about me or more about the process and how I can help you please reach out to me. You can also get to know more about me and my style by reading my blogs.
